I
am writing a response to Michael Fabricant’s tweet which has been removed from
the social media platform by the Lichfield Tory himself, in the knowledge he
did wrong. This however, doesn’t correct the anti-Islam mind-set, which is rife
in the Tory Party – even today I saw a comment claiming a mock isn’t exactly
anti-Islam; no the problem isn’t about the mock, but the content and symbolism
linked to the mock, effectively attacking a belief-system I don’t share; alas
can categorically understand the offensive anti-Islam tone.
In
principle, Michael Fabricant should be suspended, Owen Jones is on the money
when he exclaimed if the Tories are going to pretend to take racism /
anti-Islam seriously the Party has to suspend him immediately - of course this
won’t happen purely because the act doesn’t warrant a ‘hate-crime’ in the eyes
of fascists. Baroness Warsi appears to be the only Tory who has identified the
intrinsic difficulties that the government has in realising the moral
dysfunction that umbrella’s the Tories collectively. For years, prejudices against the Muslim community
have never been resolved or deemed anything of worth, let alone an independent
investigation called by the Muslim
Council of Britain on numerous occasions.
Add the London Mayor Sadiq Khan who is Muslim being mounted by a pig
image to the offensive complaint list - the churlish inflatable was a reaction
from the far-right; because Khan granted permission for London protestors to
float a gargantuan cartoon balloon of Donald Trump as an infant. What’s discourteous
is Khan’s head is superimposed on a balloon and for maximum offence a porcus is
coming up from his derriere. Odiously, Tories are sharing the social media meme
in a bid to publically draw upon anti-Islamic imagery that’s renowned to cause
collective irritation / provocation for Muslims alike.
Notably,
if the BBC fails to take note of the offensive social media meme (which is
always a possibility); this act of evading anti-Islam provocation from
far-right imbeciles continues, yet it is in the public’s interest to know which
public servant is anti-Islam in a diverse state. In contrast Labour is judged
by a higher social-standard, and we all know the irregularity there. Labour MPs
have by the BBC been systematically targeted by the broadcasting by identifying
‘disgraced MPs’ not by their name but
what they’ve ‘tweeted.’ Not the case for example Tory’s, Bob Blackman who is a
serial online media offender and has never been reprimanded by the Tory Party
whatsoever, for his grotesque views. Still Lewis fails to click onto the
dossier of complaints; unless of course they’ve miraculously vanished; he
may’ve adopted May’s Home Office old trick of deleting querulous material.
In
cases like Fabricant’s anti-Islam meme, I’m reminded of the Danish Cartoon
travesty of when Western and Muslim values conflicted over Jylland-Posten’s
publications --- you learn to not use deism for a cheap laugh; ultimately memes
are worse duly as the readership is astronomic compared to a daily newspaper;
thus, why a Tory independent inquiry into anti-Islam content has to be taken
seriously and actions taken. At present nothing tangible has happened and this
is damaging for our democratic responsibility, inclusive of freedom of speech
and having the right to a critique. Charlie
Hebdu paid the ultimate price of the massacre of eleven staff members for engineering satire out of doctrine –
albeit, cartoons don’t stack up so abhorrently than say a shared meme on social
media circulating the world wide web. The difference being, consumers choose to
purchase a Charlie Hebdu publication
in a newsagents; yet it’s forced upon thee if you’re on ‘SN newsfeeds’ -- indeed, a game-changer; herewith why Fabricant’s
‘share’ is deemed to incite hatred towards Islam, not just a lamentable attempt to ridicule Sadiq Khan the
London Mayor.
One
rule for one, another rule for another has eroded the political landscape in
the UK probably forever, and it’s due to irresponsible acts of ‘sharing
hate-ridden content’ – if you don’t know about the diverse climate / attitudes
that makes up modern Britain then you’re not fit for public office, let alone
one that’s trying to govern a nation. We all know of the sensitivities circumnavigating
Islam – their opinions and beliefs on art, human form, dietary and symbolism
importance. There’s also prohibition on
pork stroke alcohol and in a few Muslim societies dance and music; naturally it
is their human right to partake in abstaining traditions; if this improves
mental well-being and brings communities together; overall, this has to be
respected at all times. I know of
scholars who’d vehemently disagree with this prose claiming the UK is diverse, tolerant
because taboos have been broken; in truth, I observe the British Islam
community too have bought into the Western lifestyle / status quo and are open
enough to debate ‘once very controversial subjects’ relating to their origin.
There’s
something remarkably British and admirable about Khan’s silence over the repugnant
Tory anti-Islam meme; he doesn’t vehemently
condemn Fabricant in public; alas he has a right to do so, and ascertain his
freedom of speech against a purposefully projected insult against him and a
belief-system – But he knows the nasty Party and mainstream media enemy too
well; while campaigning to be the London Mayor. Khan truly was the people’s choice to become London Mayor, especially as Zac Goldsmith
his Tory opponent tore the etiquette rulebook up and daily offended Khan his
family and Islam by default. Again, no electoral or internal investigation on
Goldsmith’s ‘terrorist’ absurdities – which I am afraid, went viral, across the
pond to another protectionist individual, namely Trump… cultivating nationalism,
assimilating his power to Brexit populism.
Suppose
that we all agreed to comport ourselves against misogyny, protectionism,
inequality, hateful memes, prosperity deterrents, failing systems, and gross
negligence. Much of all these scenarios will diminish over time if the BBC’s
proclivity reported Michael Fabricant’s anti-Islam tweet. Perhaps, the mainstream
broadcasting hubs are in permanent trepidation of inflaming a particular strain
of a creed that’s determined to be ‘offended’ – maybe the answer is to pixilate
the vexed material as they did quite happily over the cartoons done in Jylland-Posten’s and Charlie Hebdo publications; in 2005 and
2015 --- although, it hasn’t happened on social media outlets, the naked truth
is not visually doctored… Implying that
Fabricant’s intention was to provoke and promote hatred, cause societal divides
and most importantly cause a hostile environment - obviously, all part of
government policy.
